SERVICES
*Stories longer than 5,500 words include an additional reading fee of $0.025/word. We are happy to read longer stories, but keep in mind that while some journals certainly accept longer stories, in general, shorter stories are easier to get published. For journals in our database, the average word limit is around 6,000 words, and the median word limit is 5,000 words. (In other words, a story longer than 5,000 words will eliminate about half of our options.) We think 5,500 words is a good max-word target.
**Editing/consulting discounts are not available in conjunction with any other Submitit discounts.

The odds of getting published are small, so sending a story to a number of strategically selected journals is essential. We recommend sending any one story (5,500 word max)* to between ten and twenty journals. (Prices below do not include journal submission fees, which are set by journals and typically range from $0 to $5 per journal. Our current estimate is $2/journal.)
